Currently using transaction rules forces you to set the transaction description to a specific value. Not very helpful to have all of one type of transaction have the same description. Can you add a button next to description that allows you to "Retain original description".
Totally agree. I see this comment was made some time before Aug 2019 and I have suggested an almost identical change to a feature in July 2024 titled "Remove 'Description is set to' box when creating transaction rules". There is also another suggestion titled "Why does the 'Description' field in a rule need to be Fixed. Can it be the original "Description".
Taking away valuable information from a description brought in via bank transactions eg Inv nos, month of rent payments, etc etc, doesn't seem to me to be a feature an accountant would want.
Agreed, I think kit is very important to have the option to retain the original description as it often includes the invoice code as a reference. Perhaps, if it transaction rule description is left blank, the bank transaction description is used.

Even allowing a wide card character, ie % or * could set the description as is or a combination of a standard description + the uploaded description..
