TFN Declaration - Electronic submission

Electronic TFN declaration should be part of ReckonOne.  If you have the Payroll Module you should have this feature. It would save in having to mail original forms to ATO.  All the information is contain within the employee set up information. So it shouldn't be too hard to implement.

    TFN decs are now submitted along with STP (in the same process). Please refer to our HELP ARTICLE for more details.

    Any chance of getting the TFN declaration lodgement in Payroll Lite instead of Payroll Medium PLEASE? Only reason most of my clients need Medium is for TFN Declaration.

    At this time the ATO does not allow TFN decs to be submitted via an STP UPDATE EVENT. We are lobbying the ATO to change this to overcome the situation you have mentioned. Until this time, the business will need to submit directly to the ATO (see https://www.ato.gov.au/Forms/TFN-declaration/), submit via your accountant, or process a NIL pay for the employee (which will report their TFN dec via STP).

    What happened if a casual worker has no more STP (left the job) but give the employer their TFN declaration within the ATO allowed period? Does their TFN declaration still send out together others on next STP?

    Apologies. As this affects all Reckon products with payroll we did post an update but missed this idea. Again.. apologies.

    Update: We have completed the lodgement aspect in our GovConnect application, as TFN decs are now submitted along with STP (in the same process). We have also completed the TFN lodgement functionality in Reckon Accounts Desktop and Hosted as desktop is released in late March. The design for Reckon One payroll has been completed and we will commence work around April, and definitely plan to have in full release by the end of the financial year.

    The ATO have released their final version and we are now able to schedule this work for Qtr 4 this year. As anticipated it is very different to the current TFN digital lodgement. More detail will follow upon release.

    @Jason Hollis

    ATO never runs to time. If this comes out in 2019 we'll all be surprised.

    Hi Andrew,

    Thank you for your feedback regarding the TFN declaration out of the Reckon One system. We completely agree that having the TFN declaration in the system is important for several reasons.

    You may not be aware that the ATO is currently in the process of implementing a full employee onboarding system where an employee can enter details into MyGov, such as their superchoice declaration etc, and have it sent straight into the accounting application of the business they are commencing employment with. This will also cover off the TFN declaration requirements. It is something we are actively pursuing with the ATO and hope to deliver this in 2019, alongside the ATO availability of this service.

    We have intentionally held off building TFN lodgements with the older tech, knowing the ATO were introducing this service in 2019 (planned).

    Kind regards,
    Jason
