Selection list dropdowns should ALL allow typed selection

Some dropdown lists allow selection by beginning to type the data content. Others do not. This is a widely-used standard method of data selection and its absence is infuriating. Timesheets are one example - ADD a project, then you have to click into a dropdown list of projects (alphabetised) and scroll down to manually find the desired project. To the users, this feels very much like unnecessary hard work. Typing a single letter should jump you straight to the projects beginning with that letter.
