Reports 'shrink to fit' to pdf export

Often when I export a report to pdf, I end up with double the pages as the last column flicks onto another page. Which you don't know until you've exported it, then you need to go back in and change to landscape or remove filters etc.. which can sometimes take several attempts to get in on one page. Would be helpful if it could just shrink the report to fit the page.
