As the majority of payments made are via EFT, the recording of cheque numbers is unnecessary. This is a very outdated part of Reckon software. Very tedious to have to remove the cheque numbers from every transaction.
If you are creating a CHEQUE transaction, it requires a cheque number.
You could add in the cheque number field "EFT1".
When you save that transaction, the next cheque would have the sequential number "EFT2", "EFT3", etc.
If you are entering a payment for a customer tax invoice, you can select a "Pmt. Method" of "EFT" and it can provide you with a "Reference #" field in which to enter a reference number.
If you are entering a payment for a supplier invoice (bill), you can select a "Payment Method" of "Direct Debit" and you would not need to enter any reference numbers.
