On Windows 10, go to Control Panel > Region > Formats > Additional Settings and make sure that $ is selected as the currency symbol. (You may also find that you have your Home Location set to United Kingdom under the Location tab of the Region Settings window)

It's possible multi-currency has been activated and AUD hasn't been set as the home currency.
