TFN Declaration lodgements

TFN Declaration lodgements

  • ADMIN RESPONSE
    Mar 25, 2020

This feature has been completed and is available in Reckon Accounts 2020 R1. Reckon Accounts Hosted users will receive the feature when the 2020 version is released. This is usually late June, however with the current uncertainty around the federal budget this release may be brought forward. All users will be notified if that is the case.

Please note this is utilising the ATOs v2 changes, whereby TFN declarations are lodged via your single touch payroll (STP) submissions.

Update: We have completed development and this feature will be included in the 2020R1 release of Reckon Accounts. Reckon Accounts Hosted users will have access in late June as the 2020 version is released as per usual. Note this is utilising the ATOs TFN declaration via STP function and therefore the business won't need to add data to any area other than the employee's record in the employee centre.

I have been waiting for this for so long. Working in the itinerant employee industry this will be such a benefit to my business.

UPDATE: The ATO have only recently come out of beta (it was the ATO beta I was previously referring to, not a Reckon beta - based on the STP experience we did not participate in the ATO TFN lodge beta). The majority of competitors aren’t using the v2 that this beta covered as they are lodging a TFN dec via SBR. The new process is completed via the STP lodgment mechanism so is quite different, and that is what we were waiting for. Now the ATO is good to go we have scheduled the work across our entire AU payroll app product range.

We'll be getting to this before years end for our cloud and mobile apps (Reckon One, Mobile Payroll, and GovConnect). For desktop and hosted products we will release in the 2020 editions as per our normal release cycle as in-product / database changes are required.

Hi. I do bookkeeping in the farming industry and with such a huge amount of itinerant workers passing through working seasonally this would be such a massive time saver and bonus for me.

The ATO have advised that their new TFN lodgement is now in Beta. We will watch its progress carefully and commence the integration once it is tested and in production.

Crazy that Reckon doesn't provide this, makes it all but impossible to lodge them these days

Meanwhile.....I've had to submit another 40 TFNs printed from eforms. I don't think the ATO will have the STP with all these parts until way past the time STP becomes mandatory, so why not just get some SBR happening now!

Hi Kerry. Everyone right now is using the 'old' method which the ATO are replacing as part of their Single Touch Payroll overhaul. We made the decision last year to wait for the new method as this will be far superior, and facilitate a connected experience between the employee, the employer and the ATO via myGov and the software applications directly. In fact TFN lodgements as we know them will soon become a thing of the past. Kind regards, Jason.

This form is supported by competitor products and Reckon needs to keep pace aside from the practicality of it.

ATO is starting to get with the times by automating and allowing uploads to save time and money for business. Reckon is a major software company that should provide the ability to convert files such as the Tax File Declarations (PDF) for ATO file transfer. I did not know about the Reckon voting system  and are suppriesd that it relys on community expectaions. I would expect Reckon to be a little more savy about what will be required or expected based up on ATO requirements for businesses and not wait for votes when a potentially number of users are unaware of the vote system? Please add this feature to your business products.

Something I just presumed would be available when I changed to ReckonOne, as I had used SBR for years with  previous much cheaper software! I didn't realise it wasn't and had to print from digital forms and then post over 50 TFN decs at once, as we use e-sign for our remote work sites and had a large project for 10 days only. It just added to the paperwork headache!

We employ people around Australia, it's so frustrating having to get them to mail their TFN Declaration to us so we can send the original to the tax office. Would love to have SBR added as a function to Reckon Accounts so TFNs can be done electron...
